Diversity Matters

Date: 4/8/2009 12:00:00 AM
Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Location: Guelph Youth Music Centre
Address: 75 Cardigan Street, Guelph

Diversity Matters: How to Diversify your Board Membership

More and more nonprofits are being asked to seek greater diversity on their boards. What does this mean for governance and how can nonprofits more effectively tap into volunteers and board members from diverse communities?

In this lunch & learn session, participants will get tools and ideas on how to create more inclusive governance practices.

This workshop is funded by the Dr. Jagjit S. Gadhoke Volunteer Development and Training Fund at The Guelph Community Foundation. Dr. Gadhoke has a vision to strengthen the development and training of volunteers and a particular interest in assisting new Canadians who are interested in volunteering. His fund supports an annual workshop on topics related to creating, maintaining and celebrating a diverse volunteer program.

Facilitated by: Sangeeta Subramanian, The Maytree Foundation
Sangeeta’s been managing DiverseCity onBoard since 2006. She has degrees from the University of Madras, the Indian Institute of Management, and the Schulich School Business. Sangeeta spent 12 years in community and organizational development roles in the non-profit sector before joining Maytree.
LUNCH IS PROVIDED

Participants said:

"I learned new things, came away with new ideas, questions"

"A diverse board requires much more than recruitment; a whole new approach, mind set, model is needed"
