While it seems obvious that how we talk to each other matters, too often we don’t pay enough attention to it or notice that how we talk is driven by emotion. If we are not careful, it can take a toll on our relationships both at work and outside of it. Emotional Intelligence is a crucial leadership skill set that can help us to communicate in more effective and less damaging ways. In fact, research has shown that E.I. is the single most important factor in predicting success; twice as important as I.Q. and technical skills combined. John Doan, a Professional Certified Coach, will introduce participants to E.I. along with some communication tools that will help any relationship you want to improve. Facilitator Bio: John Doan (DDS, CPCC, PCC, ORSCC): John has created a very successful international coaching practice with On The Threshold Coaching and Training (www.onthethreshold.com). As an Executive, Leadership and Team Coach, his areas of special focus include leadership development, Emotional Intelligence, Constructive Conflict Resolution and supporting teams to attain sustainable productivity without detrimental human costs. John is also the supporting Executive and Team Coach for the Richard Ivey School of Business’ EMBA program (University of Western Ontario) and a Guest Lecturer for Leadership Waterloo Region’s Community Leadership Development Program. He empowers his clients to a different kind of health – sustainable professional and personal success that includes the health of the mind, body and spirit. Date: Wednesday, May 15, 2013 Time: 1:00 to 4:00 pm Location: Waterloo Region Museum (Classroom A), 10 Huron Road, Kitchener Participant limit: 50 people Fee: $48 per person
