New Canadians

Volunteering for new Canadians… an engaging way to learn about life in Canada.

Volunteering means that you give your time and skills to a community benefit organization.  Volunteering benefits you, the organization and the community! There are countless opportunities that you will allow you to share your skills and interests with an organization to help the community.  It is important to find something that you like doing!

YOU benefit…

ORGANIZATIONS benefit…

COMMUNITIES benefit…

By having opportunities to:

- help others

- build your job skills

- share existing talents

- meet new people, build a social network and make friends

- improve your English skills

- learn about Canadian culture

- give back to the community

- gain confidence and boost self-esteem

- have fun!

Because volunteers can:

- offer a different perspective

- relate to clients

- provide new skills to the organization

- share their stories with others to encourage them to volunteer

Because Guelph/Wellington will:

- share the diversity of others

- have a wealth of new and exciting knowledge

- everyone is engaged in building a vibrant, healthy and resilient community

You can:

- Help in an office doing administrative or clerical work
- Teach or tutor children, youth or adults
- Plan and organize events and activities
- Share information with others in the community
- Take care of others
- Fundraise for a cause or event
- Help out at your child’s school
- Participate on a committee or board
- Do maintenance or repair work
- Deliver meals or shovel snow for older adults
- And many more!

You can search our online database here or visit us at our office to explore the current volunteer opportunities.

We provide resources and
leadership to enable the development
of people and organizations.
