Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge 2009
Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Thank you to all the organizations, volunteers and students for participating in the 2009 Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge Change the World Day of Action!  We had over 60 students volunteering on the day and gain a deeper appreciation for the great work done by organizations throughout Guelph and Wellington. We hope that all those who participated consider volunteering again in the future and we look forward to hosting this event again in 2010.

The Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington would also like to thank the following organizations for taking the time to inspire youth and for providing an opportunity for youth to get involved in their community.

Faery Fest                                                           Guelph Food Bank

Edgewood Camp and Conference Centre      Guelph Humane Society

Green Legacy Tree Nurseries                           Donkey Sanctuary

Volunteering is an expression of concern about someone or something other than yourself.  It’s about going the distance to help your fellow citizens or working with others who share a common goal.  It’s about putting your values and beliefs into action; it’s about being an active citizen and building a stronger community. Now that students must complete 40 hours of volunteering to graduate from high school, information about how to go about finding volunteer opportunities that suit the interest and skills of youth volunteers is important.
